Providing science leadership, interagency coordination and leading public engagement during implementation of Oregon’s statewide wildfire hazard map (Senate Bill 762). Working collaboratively with state agencies and the Governor’s office to navigate social and political opposition by creating opportunities for county engagement, implementing an effective public engagement process, and improving communications. Project managed update of the PNW Quantitative Wildfire Risk Assessment. Facilitated stakeholder engagement with the use of surveys, created and led an interagency leadership team, and facilitated a series of subject matter expert workshops. Continue to be responsible for science translation and technical support to the U.S. Forest Service, state natural resource agencies and county emergency professionals.

Conservation Connect Fellow National Forest Foundation

The Conservation Connect program of the National Forest Foundation is specifically focused on ways to promote collaborative forums and tools which support restoration work on National Forests and Grasslands. Was responsible for the design and implementation of a qualitative review of the Community Capacity and Land Stewardship grant. Interviewed forest collaboratives and U.S. Forest Service staff and prepared a summary report for U.S. Forest Service Region 6 staff. Also participated in trainings on facilitation, forest planning, and NEPA in the U.S. Forest Service.

In pursuit of Master of Science degree, coordinating with water utility providers and an interdisciplinary team of researchers to conduct a climate resiliency assessment for the Clackamas River Watershed. Research sheds light on the character and magnitude of future risk to water quality and quantity and provides managers with relevant and actionable information to plan risk reduction efforts. Specifically interested in how wildfire risk may serve as a catalyst for community engagement and resiliency planning.
